Hans-Joachim Spanger holds a doctorate in political science, is programme director at the Leibniz Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (HSFK) and visiting professor at the National Research University – University of Economics in Moscow. For the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Transformation Index (BTI), he wrote the regional report on post-Soviet Eurasia.
